Silver Chronograph Pocket Watch and Albert Chain Made in Chester, England - 1896

This is a silver, open-face, centre seconds chronograph pocket watch, hallmarked for Chester, England in 1896. It is attached to a white metal curb link albert chain. Both the movement and the case have the same number (No. 149941) indicating that they were assembled together.

Dial: The white enamel dial has Roman numerals with outer minute divisions and additional timing increments of 25. The dial has silver hands and a blued steel centre chronograph seconds hand. There is a Stop/Work slider at the 2 o’clock position.

Movement: The chronograph is fitted with an angled lever escapement movement that has a compensated balance and regulator. The three-quarter plate movement is signed Alfred James Barnsley and hallmarked Sterling Sliver No 149941. The movement is in very good working condition. However, we cannot guarantee complete accuracy for an antique pocket watch.

Case: The watch lies in a silver open-face case with a smooth finish and an oval escutcheon engraved in the rear. The inner side of the case is hallmarked for Chester 1896 and numbered 149941.
